Avalanche Skills Training
A mix of theory and practical skills teach you safety knowledge for winter backcountry travel. Enjoy some fresh turns while learning about formation and nature of avalanches, avalanche terrain recognition, factors affecting snow-pack, route finding, safety equipment usage, self rescue and snow pack observation & assessment. Participants are required to be at least an intermediate skier or snowboarder. Offered through Whistler Alpine Guides and Extremely Canadian
Ski or ride “The Musical Bumps” and make it to the “Cowboy’s Ridge” if you dare and watch out to not lose your hat Hee…Haaa..! The peaks are towering 6,000 feet above the valley floor with alpine bowls to make your jaw drop. For enthusiast intermediate skiers, telemarkers and snowboarders who are looking for a real backcountry experience. Includes transceiver, shovel & probe. Tour time is 7-8 hours. Experience some of the finest mountaineering on Fissile Mountain, Phalanx Peak, Cheakamus Mountain, Joffre Peak and Mount Matier, to name a few! This challenging 1-2 day tour requires previous mountaineering experience. Offered through Coast Mountain Guides.
